Boundary Panel Case Study: The Fifth Meridian - The Things We Learned
In this seminar, we'll share some of the lessons learned during the investigation and boundary panel deliberations for boundary panel case 2009-05. This is a very complicated case involving more than 10 Alberta Land Surveyors, 20 section and quarter section corners, and close to 30 registered plans.

This seminar is designed for Alberta Land Surveyors. The hierarchy of evidence, including evidence assessment, searching, and evaluation techniques, the use of evidence from abandoned plans, and the boundary panel process will be discussed. Other resources that may aid with boundary research will also be identified.

Additionally, at the end of the seminar, the participant will have learned to:
  • - obtain historic field notes that are not available on SPIN
  • - search for abandoned plans on SPIN that do not show up graphically
  • - search for diaries from township surveyors
