I began my career in the construction industry in 1979, working as a labourer for a local commercial contractor. I completed my apprenticeship training in Carpentry at Lethbridge College in 1988.
Since that time I have been involved in projects in Western Canada, ranging from residential renovations to large civil projects
I worked at the Head works phase of the Oldman River Dam, the Mamquam River Hydro project near Squamish BC, and several projects at the Steep bank Mine site at Suncor near Fort McMurray.
I also worked in supervisory roles, on seismic upgrade projects on both the Granville St bridge and the Queensborough bridge in Greater Vancouver, as well as new bridge construction at Cumberland House Saskatchewan, and a “super bridge” crossing the Athabasca River at Suncor.
Local projects include Lethbridge City Hall, the U of L LINC (library) also in supervisory capacity.
In 2005 I decided to take a new path and pursued a career as a Safety Codes Officer. I worked for 2 1/2 years at the City of Edmonton as a plans examiner/ SCO.
In 2007 I was asked to return home and work as a SCO for the City of Lethbridge. In 2008 I was promoted to Senior Building SCO and in 2009 I moved to the Manager, Building Inspection Services role.
I currently hold the position of 1st Vice President of the Alberta Building Officials Association.
